reBlog from omgzam.com: Online Media Gazette

Brilliant connection between knowledge, identity and relationships...I have experienced it so often but never paused to think or analyze...

Sharing is a method to disseminate useful information to other people. Knowledge is closely linked to our identity hence, it is imperative that our peers view us as knowledgeable and skilful. One major way of demonstrating that to our peers is by sharing knowledge with them. From there, we build relationships so that what we share will be treated with utmost respect. Knowledge sharing and relationships are interlinked.omgzam.com, Online Media Gazette, Jan 2010

  3. Where does information hoarding (the opposite of sharing information) fit into self image do you think? Sometimes I think people withhold information as a way to make themselves feel superior, knowing that they know something someone else doesn't and having the power to make that person fail or succeed. What do you think?

  4. I think so too...I also feel information hoarders are people who are deeply insecure. They are not forward thinkers, learning adventurists...

What they know already is all they have and don't want to let go of that. They can't think of passing on/sharing knowledge and learning something new.

In my experience, information hoarders don't like receiving feedback either, even constructive criticism.
